Fugitive sex offenders arrested

— Highlands County sheriff’s deputies have arrested two fugitive sex offenders, according to a news release from Sheriff Susan Benton.

Levi W. Vass, 40, 3059 Central Ave., Fort Myers, was arrested in the parking lot of Lakeshore Mall, the news release said. He was charged with violation of probation in Lee County for failure to register as a sex offender.

Dillian Marcus Romain, 22, 1312 S. Milwakee, Jackson, Mich., was arrested at 443 Lake June Road, the press release said. He was originally charged with violation of parole for sexual assault.

The deputies who made the arrests are part of the Crime Suppression Team and are also special deputy marshals, the sheriff said.

They received leads from the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, she said.
