Florida Hospital Heartland CEO headed to DeLand

Published:

SEBRING Florida Hospital Heartland CEO Tim Cook has visited DeLand to prepare for his new assignment - as boss of the Daytona area hospital.

Mark LaRose, CEO of Florida Hospital DeLand, resigned to pursue other opportunities, according to Daryl Tol, regional CEO of Florida Hospital's five medical centers in the Volusia-Flagler market.

"I was totally taken with the community, the hospital, the physicians and the team there," Cook told the Daytona Beach News-Journal on Friday.

The nonprofit Adventist Health System operates 23 hospitals in Florida.

During his seven years in Sebring, Cook helped raise the hospital's quality and patient safety scores among the top 25 percent in the nation. He installed a computerized physician order entry and added a stroke center and breast-health center.
