Fire chief puckers up to pig for a good cause

Published:

SEBRING - H.A.L.L.O., a support group and a post-rehab program for people with disabilities, raised $2,500 for its inaugural Kiss the Pig fundraiser recently.

Sebring Fire Chief Brad Batz had to kiss the pig out of a group of 10 local leaders who participated at the Highlands County Fair Feb. 15

"All the candidates stuck it out until the end, trying to get votes for themselves," said Deanna Pieretti, H.A.L.L.O. founder. "It was a lot of fun and much enthusiasm was shown by all the candidates. They were really good sports."

The community could cast a vote - or a contribution - to the candidate of its choice.

H.A.L.L.O, which also has a center with passive exercise machines for those with disabilities, is going to make it an annual event.
