SEBRING - A fingerprint on a jewelry box helped authorities nab a suspected burglar more than a year after someone ransacked a woman's residence and stole several items, a report released Monday said.

Dustin Wayne Davis, 19, 4721 Granada Ave., Sebring, was arrested Saturday by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office on a warrant and charged with burglary and grand theft of a dwelling.

The woman had reported that someone broke into her house on Nov. 8, 2011, went through cabinets and jewelry boxes and stole $100 in cash, a bottle of vodka and two knives.

She told investigators she does not know Davis and has never given him permission to be on her property, the report said.

As of press time, Davis remained in the Highlands County jail on $32,000 bond.
