LAKE PLACID- A Lehigh Acres woman was killed at 11:21 a.m. Sunday after being thrown off a motorcycle when it collided with a Ford Van at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Lake Mirror Drive, authorities said.

Florida Highway Patrol identified her as Mary T. Yanka, 49. The driver of the 2011 Kawasaki, Stephen P. Yanka, 49, also of Lehigh Acres, was reported to be in critical condition at Lee Memorial Hospital. They were both wearing helmets, FHP said.

Harold W. Holthaus, 80, of Sidney, Ohio, was stopped eastbound on Lake Mirror Drive's intersection with U.S. 27 and was trying to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. 27 to get to the crossover median, FHP said.

Stephen Yanka was going south on the inside lane of U.S. 27. Holthaus did not yield the right of way to the motorcycle, the front of which collided with the left side of the van, FHP said.

Both the Yankas were thrown off their motorcycle, FHP said.

The van continued northeast, crossed the northbound lanes of U.S. 27 and came to rest on the eastbound lane of Josephine Avenue, FHP added.

Holthaus did not suffer any injuries. His passengers, Patricia A. Holthaus, 67, of Sidney, Ohio; Maurice R. Boeke, 79, of Minster, Ohio; and Grace A. Boeke, 74, of Minster, Ohio; did not have any injuries, either, FHP added.
