Fate of Sweetbay stores in Highlands County remains up in air

SEBRING - In the wake of Bi-Lo Holdings, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, acquiring 72 Sweetbay stores this week, the ultimate fate of the Sweetbay stores in Highlands County remained uncertain Wednesday.

Brian Wright, a spokesman for Winn-Dixie, said all the stores will receive the Winn-Dixie name, but the company has not made any decisions on whether to close any of the stores.

That will likely not occur until next year when the purchase is finalized, he said.

Sweetbay has two stores in Highlands County, one in Sebring and one in Lake Placid.
