SEBRING - Humane Society of Highlands County officials said they're hoping that this weekend's "Dead of Winter," event will bring in as many or more people as last weekend.
The event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Jan. 24 and Jan. 25. Tickets cost $10 each and can be purchased throughout the event.
Judy Spiegel, president of the Humane Society, said all of the money raised will go into the operating budget of the Humane Society to help care for the animals.
Participants will likely get chills from the near freezing weather predicted Friday night and the 60 scary characters portrayed by student participants of Sebring High School's Theater Outreach program, she said.
Spiegel said it will take about 25 minutes to walk the trail.
The event in part replaces the annual "Terror Trail" event, which is held around Halloween, Last year the Terror Trail had to be cancelled because all the rain during the summer left the ground flooded.
