SEBRING - Heartland Crime Stoppers has announced that Highlands County Commissioner Don Elwell is now a member of the Heartland Crime Stoppers Board of Directors.
Elwell's application was unanimously approved at the Heartland Crime Stoppers Board of Directors meeting Oct. 28.
"We are really excited to welcome Commissioner Elwell to our Board of Directors," said Gary Mullings, chairperson. "His experience and knowledge will be a great benefit to Heartland Crime Stoppers. Adding a board member from Highlands County has been my goal for almost a year now. There is no doubt that Don will be wonderful addition to already great Board of Directors."
Heartland Crime Stoppers is a 501C(3) organization which provides a way for concerned citizens to report criminals, criminal activity and information on unsolved crimes in Polk, Hardee and Highlands counties. All callers remain anonymous and if their tip results in an arrest, the recovery of stolen property or the recovery of illegal drugs/narcotics, they are eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.
The Heartland Crime Stoppers Board of Directors oversees all business and financial operations of the organization. Additionally, they review monthly each tip which qualifies for a reward and determines the actual reward amount to be paid.
