Elder Fair returns Tuesday in new location, with new focus

Published:

SEBRING -The Elder Fair returns Tuesday from 8:30 -11 a.m. at the Bert Harris Agri-Civic Center on U.S. 27 and George Boulevard, instead of the Highlands County Fairgrounds as in previous years.

The Highlands County Seniors and Law Enforcement Together Council hosts the event, which is coming back this year after a brief hiatus and with some changes.

There will be no health vendors present or medical testing done.

Participants, instead, will be able to get information on home security; personal safety; legal issues such as setting up powers of attorney, trusts and other retirement concerns; crime prevention topics; and elder abuse signs and solutions.

Some vendors will make individual presentations during the event.

Admission is free.

The S.A.L.T. Council's mission is to address the needs of seniors in the community, especially as they relate to being victims of crimes and the fear of crime.
