Jaycees' egg hunt returns for fifth year

The Avon Park Jaycees, a nonprofit organization of young professionals in the area, will host its fifth annual Easter egg hunt at 9 a.m. Saturday at Donaldson Park.

The free event is geared for children up to age 12.

Last year, more than 400 youngsters attended, in addition to their families.

At the conclusion of the egg hunt, drawings for gift baskets, bikes and gift certificates, sponsored by local businesses, will take place.

Festivities include photos with bunny

The Desoto City Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Easter egg hunt Saturday at Station 19, 6800 W. George Blvd., next to the Highlands County Health Department

Festivities start at 9:30 am and the hunt will begin at 10.

Children also will be able to get their picture taken with the Easter bunny and play in a bounce house.

Eggstravaganza at Fireman's Field

Grace Bible Church will hold its Community Famfest Eggstravaganza at 10 a.m. Saturday at Fireman's Field.

Activities will be available for families with infants through fifth grade, including games, crafts, music and the Easter story brought to life. Egg hunts will be held at various times for different age levels.

Barbecue lunches will be served; cost is $5 for adults and $2 for children.

Big money at stake at Humane Society event

The Humane Society will hold its second annual Flashlight Egg Hunt on Saturday.

Last year, 800 people were admitted and 1,000 people were turned away.

This year, the society is prepared to accommodate 1,300.

Parking will be available at Gate 4 of Sebring International Raceway. Annette buses will transport everyone to the shelter where the event takes place.

Gates will open at 4 p.m.

There will be two $1,000 cash eggs and other eggs containing $30,000 worth of gift cards and cash prizes.

Crazy Egg contests will offer a chance for participants to win $200 each.

Music will be provided by Longshot Band and disk jockey J-Money. Concessions will be available.

Cost is $14 in advance or $20 at the gate. Spectator-only tickets are $7. All proceeds go directly to the Humane Society of Highlands County.

Sun 'n Lake hosts hunt, other festivities

The annual Sun 'n Lake Easter Egg Hunt will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sun 'n Lake Recreation Complex.

Registration will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Children will enjoy pictures with the Easter bunny, music, face painting, balloon animals, bounce houses/slide and other festivities.

Hot dogs, drinks and snacks will be available.

Please bring your own basket. Cost is $1 for children or grandchildren of Sun 'n Lake residents under 12 years of age and $5 for non-residents.
