Dozens fight after Sebring-Avon Park game

Published:

SEBRING - Sebring Police and Highlands County Sheriff's Office school resource deputies quelled a series of fights after Friday's Sebring-Avon Park football game.

Sgt. C. Hart said police officers were on the scene to help with traffic control when a fight broke out about 10:15 p.m. at the Mobil Mart across from Sebring High School.

"There was quite a few engaged in fights after the game," Hart said Saturday. "We estimated a hundred or so. It was a big fray, from the information I gathered."

"The juveniles were out of control," Hart said. After police dispersed the juveniles, other fights erupted at Fireman's Field.

No one was arrested, Hart said. "They ran off."

No injuries were reported. "Not that we've heard of."
