Detours issued after train and semi accident

Published:

LAKE PLACID A semi-trailer that crashed into a train on S.R. 70 and S.R. 8 Monday afternoon has forced detours because S.R. 70 is closed in both directions.

There are no injuries reported right now, said Highlands County spokeswoman Nell Hays, but the train is derailed on the tracks.

Motorists on S.R. 8 and headed east should take Placid Lakes Boulevard, to Catfish Creek and into Lake Placid, or take Placid View Drive to Lake Mirror Drive, then to US 27

Those who are going west and have not made it to U.S. 27, should go south to S.R. 29 to continue westbound, or U.S. 27 north to Lake Mirror Drive and turn left on Lake Mirror, then left again on Placid View Drive to S.R. 70 to continue west.
