SEBRING - Several road and sidewalk projects are continuing despite the almost every day rain showers.
Kenneth Fields, director of Sebring's Public Works Department, said the rain has presented a challenge.
While summer isn't necessarily the prime time for road work in Sebring, this summer has been pretty busy, he said.
"We try and do things year-round," he said.
One of the more noticeable projects is the reconstruction of Wall Street in downtown Sebring. Fields said the work has been going on since last year on the street that sort of circles around the circle.
That work has included moving utility lines and doing brick paving, he said.
The final section from South Commerce to South Ridgewood is to begin July 29 and is expected to take two months, he said.
The Community Redevelopment Agency has touted the project as part of the efforts to revitalize downtown.
Another project is redoing curving and repaving on Park from Pine Street to Lakeview, Fields said. That also includes some drainage work , he said.
That work should take about two months, he said.
Meanwhile, the Florida Department of Transportation is doing sidewalk replacement along Lakeview.
