Man arrested on theft charges
LAKE PLACID — A Sebring man was arrested after being accused of using another person’s debit card 49 times to obtain money, according to a report released Monday.
Joey Lee Scott, 31, 2805 U.S. 27, Sebring, was arrested by the Lake Placid Police Department and charged with nine counts of third-degree grand theft, 40 counts of petit theft, one count of fraud and 49 counts of criminal use of personal identification.
An warrant affidavit said that between Sept. 14, 2013, and March 30, 2014, Scott used another person’s debit card 49 times to withdraw money.
The withdrawals ranged from $62.75 to $300, the report said.
Man accused of stealing farm animals
SEBRING — One man was arrested after another man counted his sheep and found nine missing, according to a report released Monday.
Israel Almeida-Lezcano, 36, 14721 Arbuckle Creek Road, Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with trespass and nine counts of grand theft of farm animals.
The arrest came after the owner of the sheep was told by another man that Almeida-Lezcano tried to sell him the sheep, the report said.
Although the man did not buy the sheep, Almeida-Lezcano left the animals on his property, the report said.
The victim identified the sheep as the missing animals, the report said. The theft occurred in May 2013, the report said.
Man accused of having inappropriate relationship with a juvenile
SEBRING — A 19-year-old man was accused of having sex with a 14-year-old girl, according to a report released Monday.
Robert Theodore Gibbs, 19, 232 Whatley Ave., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office and charged with lewd/lascivious behavior with the victim being in the age range of 12 to 16, the report said.
The Sheriff’s Office received a report that the 14-year-old had sex in the Spring Lake ball park earlier this year, the report said.
