Man arrested on drug charges
AVON PARK - An Avon Park man ended up being arrested on drug charges after deputies noticed he was riding a bicycle without lights at night, according to a report released Thursday.
Kenneth Narvaez, 30, 509 S. Florida Ave., Avon Park, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana and possession of drug equipment.
The arrest came after the deputy stopped Narvaez on the light charge and got permission to search him, the report said.
The deputy found syringes with traces of cocaine and marijuana, the report said.
Man accused of battering woman
LAKE PLACID - A Lake Placid man was arrested after a woman reported that he grabbed her by the neck and also placed a pillow over her face, according to a report released Thursday.
Ronny Deion Marshall, 31, no street address given, Lake Placid, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with battery and felony battery.
The woman said that during an argument, Marshall placed his knees on her arms and then placed a pillow over her nose and mouth, making it impossible for her to breath, the report said.
The report also said that Marshall grabbed the woman by the neck and placed his hand over her mouth making it impossible for her to breath.
