Man accused of breaking into house, stealing items

SEBRING - A man was arrested after a witness saw him stashing some items authorities believe were stolen during a house burglary, according to a report released this week.

Alan Lee Born, 26, 1313 Bassage Road, Sebring, was arrested by the Sebring Police Department and charged with criminal mischief, burglary of an occupied dwelling and petit theft.

The investigation began after a woman reported that she was upstairs in her house when she heard the door bell ring, the report said.

After she decided not to answer the door, the woman said she heard a loud banging from the rear of her house and what she thought was the sound of her kitchen window breaking.

The woman told police she locked herself in her bedroom and called 911, the report said.

The investigation showed that the burglar stole a grill grate, a grill brush and a butter knife, the report said.

A police K9 led officers to a man who turned out not to be a suspect, the report said.

But the man told officers he was with Born. Later, a witness told police that Born had stashed some items behind some bushes.

And those turned out to be the stolen items, the report said.

Woman arrested on drug charges

SEBRING - A traffic stop led to a woman being arrested on drug charges, according to an arrest report released this week.

Shicara Frankie Kee Blaine, 19, 5044 Barnum St., Sebring, was arrested March 8 by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with possession of liquor by a person younger than 21, possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana, possession of drug equipment and introduction contraband into a jail.

The arrest report said deputies found Molly, a form of ecstasy inside the vehicle, but Blaine was not charged in connection with that drug.
