Woman accused of battery on an elderly person

SEBRING - A Sebring woman was arrested after being accused of shoving an elderly woman, according to a report released Thursday.

Jessie Nicole Carrero, 28, 3417 Healey St., Sebring, was arrested March 6 by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 years old or older and burglary with assault or battery.

The victim had reported Carrero came to her residence, looking for her husband, the report said.

When the victim told Carrero that her husband wasn't home, Carrero forced her way into the residence, the report said.

Later, the husband arrived and an argument started between him and Carrero, the report said. When the victim told Carrero that she had called authorities, Carrero shoved her, causing her to fall and break her wrist, the report said.

Man accused of trying to eat evidence

SEBRING - A Sebring man turned what would have been a misdemeanor possession charge into a felony tampering charge by attempting to eat the marijuana evidence, a report said.

Michael Logan York, 18, 1309 Spinks Lane, Sebring, was arrested March 6 and charged with possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana, possession of drug equipment and tampering with evidence.

The officer who stopped York's car smelled marijuana and saw some in the car, as well as in York's mouth, the report said.
