Woman accused of burglary

SEBRING - A woman stands accused of participating in a burglary netting televisions, jewelry, clothing, patients and other items, according to a report released Wednesday.

Amy Elizabeth Brotons, 41, 5905 Thunder Road, Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with burglary of a dwelling, second-degree grand theft and dealing in stolen property.

The burglary of a residence on Lakeside Way was reported on Oct. 2, 2013, the report said.

Two days later, trash removed from Brotons' residence was identified as being some of the stolen items, the report said.

Man accused of attacking pregnant woman

AVON PARK - A man was arrested after a pregnant woman told authorities that he slapped and punched her, according to a report released Wednesday.

Michael Rivera, 33, no street address given, was arrested Feb. 18 by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, false imprisonment and child abuse.

The woman reported that following the argument, Rivera slapped her face and then punched her in the stomach and the lower back, the report said.

She also told authorities that Rivera knocked her onto the floor, the report said.
