Man accused of elbowing officer

SEBRING - A Zolfo Springs man not only elbowed a Sebring police officer, but also threatened to kill two officers, according to a report released Monday.

Jakkare Marcella Thompson, 28, 3525 Poplar St., Zolfo Springs, was arrested Feb. 14 and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, two counts of corruption by threat and resisting an officer without violence.

The arrest came after an officer was notified of a fight in a bar, the report said. The officer saw customers holding a man and he asked the man, who was Thompson, to leave the bar, the report added.

But Thompson refused to do that, and in the process of being arrested, elbowed the officer in the chest and tried to get away from another officer until the original officer threatened to taser him, the report said.

On the way to the Highlands County jail, Thompson threatened to kill the two officers, the report said.
