Woman arrested on drug charges

AVON PARK - An Avon Park woman who authorities say tried to hide illegal drugs while in the presence of Highlands County deputies was unsuccessful, according to a report released Thursday.

Shaena Alicia Roman, 28, 2541 Lake Lillian Drive, Avon Park, was arrested Feb. 5 by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana, possession of drug equipment and tampering with evidence.

The arrest came after a deputy involved in a vehicle stop saw Roman pull from her pants what was later identified as marijuana and throw it under his vehicle, the report said.

Further investigation disclosed that Roman was attempting to hide cocaine, the report said.

Convicted sexual predator charged with failing to register

AVON PARK - A convicted sexual predator was arrested after failing to comply with repeated warnings that he must re-register with the Highland County Sheriff's Office, according to a report released Thursday.

Channie Lehemiah Donald Jr., 31, 1907 N. Terrapin Road, Avon Park, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office on a warrant and charged with failure of sexual predator to re-register as required, the report said.

Donald was convicted in 2002 of lewd or lascivious battery, with the victim being between the ages of 12 and 15, and in 2007 of lewd or lascivious molestation involving a victim between the ages of 12 and 15, the report said.

He was notified in January several times that he had to re-register, but failed to do so, the report said.
