Man accused of burglary

SEBRING - If you commit a burglary, its probably a good idea to conceal the stolen items. Or that's what a suspected burglar probably learned, according to a warrant released Monday.

Simon Lorenzo Brown, 26, 4071 Thunderbird Road, Apt./Lot D12, Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure and third-degree grand theft.

The arrest came after a Sebring area man reported on Sept. 4, 2013, that someone stole a pressure washer and tools from a shed, the report said.

About an hour later, a deputy noticed a car, which appeared to have the stolen property in a trunk with the trunk cover ajar, leave the area and pull into Wendy's, the report said.

At that time, the deputy questioned the occupants and subsequently identified the property in the trunk as the stolen items, the report said.

Man accused of child neglect

AVON PARK - A man was arrested after two children showed up at a residence asking to use a bathroom, according to an arrest report released Monday.

Robert Lee Widner, 53, 1700 S.W. Second Ave., Okeechobee, was arrested and charged with five counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.

The occupant of the home where the children went reported the situation, the report said.

A deputy found five children, ages 5-12, who were unsupervised, the report said.

Further investigation showed that Widner was responsible for watching the children, the report said.
