Man accused of using another man's debit card

LAKE PLACID - A man was arrested after being accused of buying around $3,000 worth of goods with someone else's debit card, according to a report released Monday.

Richard Douglas Bright, 30, 106 N.W. Vera Lane, Lake Placid, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with third-degree grand theft, criminal use of personal identification and credit card fraud.

The owner of the debit card reported that someone had used his card between August 2013 and October 2013, the report said.

Bright told investigators that the man allowed him to use the card, but that also his son may have accidentally made some of the purchases on his cell phone, the report said.

Man arrested on drug charges

SEBRING - A man was arrested after investigators found drugs and other items in his residence, according to a report released Monday.

Ronald Clay Walker, 30, 717 Porshe St., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug equipment and violation of probation.

The arrest came after investigators found a revolver, ammunition, a scale, OxyContin and about $4,000 in currency in Walker's nightstand, the report said.

They also found marijuana and oxycodone in a safe, the report said.
