Man accused of illegal conduct with juvenile

AVON PARK - A 26-year-old man was arrested after a juvenile reported he and the man performed sexual acts on each other, according to an arrest report released Wednesday.

Nausheel Ramniklal Unnadkat, 26, 403 Virginia St., Frostproof, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office Jan. 20 and charged with sexual battery on a 16 or 17-year-old juvenile and three counts of committing a sex offense.

Unnadkat told deputies that the victim, who he met on a dating site, told him he's 19 years old. Unnadkat said he told the victim he's 22 year old so the victim would be more interested in having sex with him, the report said.

They met in Donaldson Park, the report said.

Man arrested on drug charges

LAKE PLACID - A man's claim that he had no idea how a bag of cocaine got in a pocket of his shorts didn't stop him from being arrested Wednesday, according to a report released Thursday.

Akinkawon Hawthorne, 18, 333 Biscane Ave., Lake Placid, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of 20 grams of marijuana or less and possession of drug equipment.

Deputies arrived at the location of arrest and smelled marijuana, the report said.

They searched Hawthorne and found bags of marijuana and cocaine, the report said.

Hawthorne at first said deputies planted drugs on him, but later said he didn't know how the cocaine got in his pocket, the report said.
