Man accused of attacking mother

SEBRING - A Sebring man was arrested after being accused of attacking his mother when she wouldn't give him money, according to a report released Thursday.

Richard D. Bolen, 51, no address given, was arrested Jan. 15 by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older.

Bolen's mother reported that after she refused several times to give him money, he grabbed and squeezed her, a report said.

Bolen has worked as a gold miner, the report said.

Man accused of fleeing police, possessing deputies

LAKE PLACID - A man with an outstanding warrant fled Highlands County deputies and was later found to possess illegal drugs, according to a report released Thursday.

Richard Oliver Brant, 39, 3804 Hoyt Ave., Sebring, was arrested Jan. 15 by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with resisting an officer without violence and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Deputies saw Brant on a scooter and realized he had a warrant for his arrest, the report said.

When they tried to arrest him, he fled into woods, leading to a chase, the report said.
