Man charged with having stolen guns
SEBRING - In an area where there have been numerous weapons offenses, a man was arrested after deputies found three stolen guns in the trunk of his car, according to a report released earlier this month.
Anthony Alexander Robinson, 50, 603 Lincoln Ave., Sebring, was arrested Dec. 19 by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with three counts of dealing in stolen property.
Robinson's arrest came after deputies were watching an area near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Lemon Street with a long history of gun-related incidents, the report said.
The deputies saw three men acting suspiciously, the report said. Later, they got permission from one of the three men, Robinson, to search his vehicle, the report said.
The guns were reported stolen out of Highlands and Lake counties and Lake Wales.
Woman, husband arrested on witness intimidation charges
AVON PARK - After a man was charged with burglarizing a woman's house, he and his wife threatened to have the woman arrested and her child taken away if she didn't get the charges dropped, according to a warrant released Monday.
Instead, they were the ones who got arrested, the warrant said.
Carolyn Crawford Carter, 57, and Quitman Steve Carter, 60, both of 10 E. Adams St., Avon Park, were arrested last weekend and charged with obstructing justice and tampering with a witness.
The burglary victim reported she received a text message from Carolyn Carter accusing the victim of forging Carter's name on a title for a truck. The text message also said that after the victim would be arrested, "I will call DCF (Department of Children and Families) and have your kid taken away from you. I'm warning you, I'm not playing. So if the charges aren't dropped, Steve won't be the only one in jail. You have until Friday and then I will show you I don't make idle threat," according to the warrant.
Both the husband and the wife also relayed the threat through another person, the warrant said.
