Man accused of domestic abuse and child neglect

SEBRING - A man was accused Dec. 6 of striking a woman numerous times and preventing her from leaving a residence, according to a report released Monday.

Steven Andrew Acevedo, 24, no address given, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charge with battery, false imprisonment and child neglect.

The arrest came after the woman reported Acevedo struck her numerous times, leaving abrasions on her face and arms, the report said.

She said she was only able to leave the residence where that occurred after Acevedo fell asleep.

Authorities discovered that Acevedo was sleeping in the same bed as a 5-month-old child and accused him of doing it in a negligent way, the report said.
