Man charged with lewd/lascivious battery
SEBRING - A Sebring man was arrested on a warrant after a 13-year-old girl told authorities that the 25-year-old man, who is now 26, had sex with her, according to a report released Friday.
Sandes Etienne, 26, 1209 Citroen Ave., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with five counts of lewd/lascivious battery.
The arrest came after a mother took her daughter for a pregnancy test after the girl appeared to have gained weight, the report said, and the minor was found to be pregnant.
The girl had been sent to live in Georgia because of school problems, the report said, adding that she was back in Florida visiting her mother at the time of the discovery.
Man arrested on child abuse charge
SEBRING - A Sebring man was arrested after reportedly hitting his daughter with a belt, according to a report released Monday.
Richard Dean Ritenour, 28, no address given, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with cruelty toward a child.
The report accused Ritenour of hitting the child with the belt to the extent that the child suffered a 3-4 inch bruise on her upper left thigh.
The girl told authorities that was punishment for being disrespectful to his father's girlfriend.
Man charged with failure to register
SEBRING - A Sebring man was arrested on a warrant last week after authorities said he failed to re-register as a sex offender, according to a report released Friday.
Wayne Kent Daffron, 61, 252 Roadrunner Ave., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with failure to re-register as a sex offender.
The report said that Daffron was convicted in 1990 of sexual battery and was required to register as a sexual offender four times a year for the rest of his life.
Daffron was provided with forms indicating the four dates by which he had to register this year, the report said.
