Man accused of stealing gun
LAKE PLACID - A Sebring man hired to do air conditioning repair is accused of stealing a gun from a residence where he did the work, according to a warrant released Wednesday.
Erik Desmond Flippin, 29, 2624 Gresham St., Sebring, was arrested Tuesday by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with grand theft of a firearm and dealing in stolen property.
The arrest came almost a year after the theft was first reported.
The victim told authorities that he had hired an air conditioning service to repair his air conditioning and that after the workers left, his gun was missing, the report said.
The victim later reported that the air conditioning service owner returned the gun after receiving information that Flippin, who was fired from his job, sold the gun to another man, the report said.
The air conditioning business owner bought the gun from the man who purchased it from Flippin, the report said.
