Two Sebring men accused of failure to register
SEBRING - Two Highlands County men, one a convicted sexual predator and the other a convicted sexual offender, have been accused of failing to register, according to reports released Wednesday.
In separate cases, Samuel Scott Christmas, 48, 1012 Memorial Drive, Avon Park, and Charles Jonas Green, 62, 611 S. Lakeview Road, Lake Placid, were arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office Feb. 12 and charged with failure of a sexual offender to reregister.
Christmas was convicted in 2003 of lewd/lascivious battery and lewd/lascivious molestation of a juvenile between the ages of 12 and 15 in Polk County and in 2004 of lewd/lascivious molestation of a child, ages 12 to 15 in Osceola County, a report said.
He was designated as a sexual predator and he registered in 2011 after being released from prison, a report said.
But, in 2013, the report said, he failed to re-register, the report said.
Green was convicted of possession of child pornography in 2007, a report said. He was released from prison in 2010 and was required to re-register in September 2013, but failed to do so, the report said.
Man arrested after bar fight
AVON PARK - A Sebring man who claimed to be the victim in a bar fight involving several people ended up being arrested, according to a report released Monday.
Brandon Edward Diaz, 25, 1107 Glenwood Ave., Sebring, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with battery and aggravated battery.
When a deputy responded to the scene of the fight outside of a bar, Diaz said that other men jumped him and his brother, the report said.
But another man who appeared to have a broken arm said that Diaz punched him, knocked him to the ground and then broke his arm. Two other men also reported being punched by Diaz, the report said.
