Man arrested on drug charges

SEBRING - The party was apparently over for a man who was arrested on drug charges, according to a report released Friday.

Tommy Dan Hipps Jr., 25, 4125 Scott Ave., Sebring, was arrested July 4 by the Sebring Police Department and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell or deliver within 1,000 feet of a convenience store, possession of marijuana with intent to sell or deliver within 1,000 feet of a convenience store, possession of 20 grams or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Outstanding warrants also charged him with possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest came as Hipps was leaving a birthday party at El Bravo night club in downtown Sebring, the report said.

Officers spotted Hipps and knew he had an outstanding warrant, the report said.

Man arrested after threatening woman

SEBRING - A man was arrested after threatening his live-in girlfriend with a knife and punching her, according to a report released Friday.

Roberto Linares Guerrero, 53, no address given, was arrested July 3 by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

The arrest came after his live-in girlfriend reported that they got into an argument and that during that disagreement, Guerrero threatened to kill her with a 13-inch knife, while placing the knife next to her side, the report added.

She also told authorities that he struck her several times on her arm with a closed fist, the report said.

Woman accused of assaulting another woman

SEBRING - A woman was arrested after her live-in girlfriend reported that she threatened her with a hammer and a knife, according to a report released Friday.

Ericka J. Sims, 39, no address given, was arrested by the Highlands County Sheriff's Office July 3 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery.

The arrest came after the other woman told deputies that when she arrived home the previous night, Sims jumped in her lap and started punching her, the report said.

She said that when she got up and tried to run Sims grabbed the hammer and the knife and tried to hit her with the hammer, the report said.
