SEBRING - To celebrate Florida's citrus heritage and to increase exposure of local residents and visitors to art, the Highlands Museum of the Arts will be host two citrus exhibits March 1 through May 31.

The two indoor exhibits from the Museum of Florida History are: Florida Citrus Labels - a collection of 24 citrus labels that represent the thousands used in Florida between the late 1800s and the 1960s -- and Crate Expectations: An Exhibit of Florida Citrus Crate Labels. This exhibit highlights the colorful labels that decorated the ends of wooden crates that transported Florida citrus produce between the late 1800s and the 1960s.

The museum also will have an outdoor citrus exhibit where local artists will refurbish and paint farm equipment and machinery, which will be displayed as outdoor art around the Highlands Art League Village, and citrus art classes.

As a nonprofit entity, the museum is seeking sponsorships for the three-month long citrus exhibits, volunteers to staff the museum and loaned citrus art to enhance the exhibits.
