LAKE PLACID — The 24th annual Caladium Festival was not only bigger and better, it was the best ever according to Greater Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Eileen May.
The three-day event, which took place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Stuart Park, was “fabulous,” May said.
It was very warm, but no rain and the best crowds ever, she said.
“Everything was a complete success the whole weekend,” May said. An estimated 25,000 attended the festivities over the three days.
“We had vendors selling out of product; we had food vendors selling out of food,” she said. “It was the strongest numbers we have ever seen.”
Also, the bus tours were sold out all three days even though additional tours were added in the afternoon, May said.
May attributes the growth to the festival’s great reputation along with the added attraction of the car show and the swamp buggy show.
There was some to do all weekend, she added.
