FROSTPROOF -

An Avon Park man has been charged with killing another Avon Park man near a church in Frostproof, authorities said in a press release.

Jamanus Beck, 25, 721 S. Delaney Ave., was arrested April 27 by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder in connection with the death of Travis Lenard Fogle, 922 S. Woodrow Ave.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

A girlfriend of Fogle told authorities that Fogle wanted her to take him to First Baptist Hilltop Church in Frostproof where he was to meet Beck and give something to him, the press release said.

After they arrived, Fogle was shot as he was getting outside of his vehicle, the press release said.

Authorities arrested Beck, but do not know why the two men were meeting, the press release said.
