Authorities seek robbery suspects

Authorities are looking for two suspects who reportedly pistol-whipped a 56-year-old man Saturday in Avon Park and stole his wallet, according to a Highlands County Sheriff’s Office news release.

On Saturday, at approximately 11 a.m., Highlands County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the robbery call in the area of Verona Avenue and Pleasant Street in Avon Park.

The robbery victim received a head injury during the attack by two unknown black males, the news release adds. He was walking on Pleasant Street when he was approached by the suspects and forced into a carport of a nearby residence. He was then pistol-whipped and robbed of his wallet, the news release adds.

Suspects are described as young black males in their early 20s to mid-20s. Both were wearing white shirts and dark shorts, and they fled the scene on bicycles.
