Authorities investigate death of 28-year-old

AVON PARK -

Highlands County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man in the Avon Park Lakes subdivision, which authorities say, occurred Sunday night.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting call at approximately 10 p.m. at 2713 Nautilus Drive in Avon Park, said a news release.

Upon arriving, they found Matthew Billings dead at the scene, the news release states.

Further details are not available at this time. Detectives are continuing the death investigation.

“The Medical Examiner for District 10 has been contacted and will be working to determine a cause and manner of death. Updates will be posted as they become available,” the news release stated.
