Authorities ID homicide victim

LAKE PLACID- Authorities have identified a 55-year-old, who was found March 28 in Lake Placid with a head injury and who died later because of it, as Gerardo Rezendiz, of 145 Sarasota St., Lake Placid.

Rezendiz was found on a dirt trail behind Lupita Grocery Store, in the Palm Beach Street area, badly injured, a news release states.

The Highlands County Sheriff's Office responded at about 11 p.m. after getting a 911 call, the news release adds.

Rezendiz was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital where he died, authorities add.

The investigation is ongoing.

Detectives want to speak with anyone who may have seen what happened in the area of th grocery store during the late evening hours of March 28.
