Aktion Club's gift wrapping to benefit needy kids

Published:

SEBRING - The Aktion Club of Highlands County will wrap gifts during the holiday season at Lakeshore Mall.

The club will be wrapping presents 4-8 p.m. Dec. 6-18 at the former Sprint store in the food court between Rainbow and Cindy's Nails and across from Piercing Pagoda.

Packages, whether purchased in the mall or somewhere else, can be wrapped for a donation. There will be a variety of holiday paper, bows, boxes, gift bags and tags available.

All proceeds will benefit the Aktion Club, which will use the funds to help buy Christmas gifts, food and clothing for local needy children who receive services from the Gulf Central Early Steps Program and the Family Safehouse of Highlands County.

There will be a tree at the store featuring ornaments with items listed on them that these children need this season. Shoppers can pick an item, buy it and bring it back to the club for them to wrap for free.

Last year, the Aktion Club adopted 36 needy children in Highlands County during the holiday season. The club is a civic group, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Sebring, consisting of adults with disabilities.

For details, or to make a donation, call Club Advisor Cindy Marshall at 452-1295, ext. 124.
