Accused shoplifter faces drug charges

Published:

— A 36-year-old who, authorities say, walked out of the Avon Park Walmart Sunday without paying for the items she took got into a lot more trouble when authorities searched her and her property, a Highlands County Sheriff’s Office report states.

A sheriff’s deputy found marijuana; methamphetamine; and several pills of ecstasy, Alprazolam, hydrocodone, and some legend drugs, about 60 pills and tablet bars in total, the report said.

Jamie Rose Taylor, Lake Lillian Drive, Avon Park, faces misdemeanor charges for possession of harmful new legend drugs without prescription, petit theft, possession of marijuana, possession/use of drug equipment; and felony possession of controlled substance without prescription charges.

Authorities accuse Taylor of shoplifting $189.65 worth of jewelry and miscellaneous store items. Since the hydrocodone weighed 4.6 grams, the report states, Taylor was “trafficking in Hydrocodone as she knowingly possess the Hydrocodone which possessed a weight of more than 4 grams.”

She remained in Highlands County Jail Monday on $21,250 bail.
