16 concerts coming to downtown Sebring in September

SEBRING - A recent survey showed that 86 percent of Highlands County residents and visitors would like to see more live entertainment in downtown Sebring.

With that in mind, the Sebring Community Redevelopment Agency's September promotional campaign theme is "Music Mania," with 16 concerts and music-related events scheduled in downtown Sebring.

There will be a variety of music concerts, including rock, blues, country, gospel, oldies, gospel and Christian. Most concerts are free to attend, but some require a nominal fee.

In addition, several merchants are offering music-related specials and raffles in their stores.

Below is a list of the concerts and events:

Sept. 5: Shannon Reed - Acoustic; 5-8 p.m. Country music with a flair of southern rock and blues.

Sept. 7: Logan Dressel will perform at First Round of Beer Festival. Country music at Circle Park 6-9 p.m.; beer festival tickets are $25 each.

Sept. 10 & 17: Windchimes & Wine - Create Your Own Music; 6 p.m.; $35/both evenings. Two-part pottery class organized by the Highlands Art league.

Sept. 11-22: "Lend Me A Tenor" to be performed at Highlands Little Theatre.

Sept. 12: Shannon Reed - Acoustic; Free concert 5-8 p.m. Country music with a flair of Southern rock and blues

Sept. 13: Ransom Band performs country, rock and blues music at Destination Downtown Sebring; free concert in Circle Park from 5-8 p.m.

Sept. 13: Steve Jones performs acoustic music at Highlands Art League's Yellow House Gallery reception complete with refreshments and art; free, from 5-8 p.m.

Sept. 13: Lotela Gold, a '50-'60s show band, performs at Circle Theatre at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $15.

Sept. 14: Harry Havery & Sons perform a mix of oldies and classic country during a free concert 5-8 p.m.

Sept. 17: Picasso-era music at the Highlands Art League's Art Uncorked; 6 p.m, $35/person. Create your self-portrait with music & wine.

Sept. 19: Shannon Reed - acoustic; free concert from 5-8 p.m. Country music with a flair of Southern rock and blues.

Sept. 20: The Shannon Reed Band performs at Sebring Thunder at 7 p.m. The event is free.

Sept. 21: California Toe Jam Band performs at Sebring Thunder, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., event is free.

Sept. 21: The Gibbs Family perform gospel music at a Christian dinner concert at Dee's Restaurant at 6:00 PM. Must RSVP as seating is limited. Donations accepted. Call 471-2228

Sept. 27: Broken Roads, a country/rock band, performs at Circle Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $12.

Sept. 28: Circle of Truth Concert Christian music festival will take place in downtown Sebring at 7 p.m. Concert is free.
