NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The American Dental Association is organizing a charity dental clinic in New Orleans this weekend, to provide free care to an estimated 1,000 people who otherwise would not see a dentist.
The "Mission of Mercy" event is set for Sunday, the final day of the dental association's annual meeting in the city.
Louisiana has been deemed to have one of the worst dentist shortages in the country, and many residents go without regular dental care.
The clinic is being held in coordination with local dental associations and America's Dentists Care Foundation. Twenty-seven states are hosting similar events this year.
