Golfers swing for good cause


SEBRING - The Brad and Aaron Doty Memorial Christmas Tournament always attracts a great field and Saturday's event was no exception.

The field of 120 golfers competed in a four-person scramble format and they took advantage of ideal scoring conditions on the well-manicured Turtle Run course at Sun 'n Lake Golf Club.

The First Flight was won by the talented foursome of Jason Cannon, Nic Staffieri, Sam Rogers and Ben Tubbs with a score of 15-under 57.

Placing second with a fine score of 59 was the quartet of Pete Coughlin, Marty Roepstorff, Don Sebatian and Keith Ruley who won a match-of-cards with the third place team of Pat Dell, Lars Bylund, Mike Winchester and Mark Hopkins.

In the Second Flight, the squad of Kip Doty, Ricky Hayes, Todd Altom and Ken Bassel finished first with a score of 57.

There was a tie for second place with a score of 59 and the team of Nate Cervantes, Charlie Cervantes, Wayne Capp and Doug Dierlein won the match-of-cards with the team of Gary Behrendt, Joe DeCerbo, John Schroeder and Roy Allen.

The foursome of Bob Mitchell, Gary Kehrt, Jimmy Knack and Jerry Cumpston won the Third Flight with a score of 58.

Clint Cool, Carl Cool, Martin Knapp and Tom Fisher placed second with a 63 and Jim Doty, Chris Doty, John Doty and Glenn Cundiff came in third with a 64.

In the Fourth flight, the quartet of Mike Conway, Jeff McCartney, Jim McCartney and Rick Thompson won with a score of 62.

Dewey Sebring, Jake Adams, Josh Brown and Cody Gullat finished in second place with a 67 and the foursome of Donald Cochran, Ryan Cochran, Joseph Lezana and Kyle Weed claimed third palce with a 70.

Proceeds from the event go to purchase toys for children in our area for Christmas.
