Beer Babes win softball title

Published:

The Women's League wrapped up their fall softball season on Monday night at the Highlands County Sports Complex.

Awarded a plaque for winning the most games, the Beer Babes became the league champions for this season. The women's league consists of five teams including the Beer Babes, Chicks with Stix, Diamond Divas, No Drama Mamas and the Alan Jay Misfits.

Four teams competed on the fields on Monday to wind up the season.

The Beer Babes played against Chicks with Stix and the No Drama Mamas took on the Diamond Divas.

With a final score of 20-6, the Diamond Divas defeated the No Drama Mamas.

The Divas had a great night at bat and had three home runs in a row and several more during the game. But the No Drama Mamas were graceful about their defeat.

Erin McCarta, team captain for the Mamas, stated, "The Diva's had several home runs. It's been a good season. The Diamond Divas were hitting all night long; they just never stopped."

Meanwhile the Chicks with Stix were fighting for the league championship on Field C.

They would have had to beat the Babes by 9 runs for that status.

But the Babes weren't to be defeated and they continued to hit well and score.

In the top of the fifth, the Babes led by a score of 12-3. The Babes played the field as well as they hit and made a fantastic double play during the bottom of the inning keeping their lead.

The Beer Babes batter smacked pitch after pitch during the sixth and with the bases loaded and only one out; they continued to bring the runners in.

By the time the inning was over, the ladies had scored another 5 runs, making them the league winners for the fall season.

Congratulations to all the players for a great season. These women enjoy getting out with their friends and staying in shape with great exercise.

They are always looking for more players to start up another team. If you're interested, call Bob or Dustin at (863) 402-6755.
