COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Juventus needed a second-half equalizer from Fabio Quagliarella to earn a draw 1-1 at FC Copenhagen in their opening match in Champions League Group B on Tuesday.
Nicolai Jorgensen opened the scoring in the 14th minute following a free kick by Pierre Bengtsson. The home team was unfazed by hosting the Italian champions and kept the Turin side under pressure with a quick-passing game.
However, Quagliarella leveled in the 54th minute with a left-foot shot from a pass by Federico Peluso.
Juventus then had the better chances but Copenhagen goalkeeper Johan Wiland made some stunning saves to deny Argentina striker Carlos Tevez, Giorgio Chiellini and Paul Pogba.
Juventus pushed hard in the final minutes in search of a winner, with Arturo Vidal and substitute Sebastian Giovinco both having chances.
